In high-demand industrial environments, compressed air accounts for a massive slice of facility operating expenses. Standard single-stage compressors encounter severe thermodynamic hurdles as the compression ratio climbs. The physical process of forcing gas from ambient conditions to working pressures of 7 to 13 bar in a single stroke causes discharge temperatures to spike. This elevated heat translates directly to lost input energy, reduced air density, and accelerated degradation of internal components and lubricants.
The Double-Stage Breakthrough: Our 2nd Stage Compressor designs utilize structural intercooling between the first and second stages. By splitting the pressure ratio between two discrete air ends (rotor sets), the pressure ratio of each individual stage is kept far lower ($r = \sqrt{P_{discharge} / P_{inlet}}$).
By introducing an oil-injection cooling mist or a physical interstage intercooler between the first and second stages, we bring the overall compression path much closer to the highly sought-after isothermal curve. The air temperature drops significantly before entering the second stage, rendering the air denser. This design significantly decreases the thermodynamic work required by the second-stage rotor set.
In a single-stage system, power consumption scales with the overall pressure ratio raised to the polytropic exponent power. With dual-stage compression, reducing the compression ratio ($r$) per stage drops the specific power consumption ($kW/m^3/min$) by up to 15% compared to single-stage units running under identical pressures.
